Darkest Hour by Megadeth
In my hour of need
Ha [no] youre not there
And though I reached out for you
Wouldnt lend a hand.
Through the darkest hour
Grace did not shine on me
It feels so cold, very cold
No one cares for me.
Did you ever think I get lonely
Did you ever think that I needed love
Did you ever think to stop thinking
Youre the only one that Im thinking of.
Youll never know how hard I tried
To find my space and satisfy you too.
Things will be better when Im dead and gone
Dont try to understand, knowing you Im probably wrong.
But oh how I lived my life for you
Still youd turn away
Now as I die for you
My flesh still crawls as I breathe your name
All these years I thought I was wrong
Now I know it was you
Raise you head, raise your face your eyes
Tell me who you think you are, who?
I walk, I walk alone
Into the promised land.
Theres a better place for me
But its far, far away
Everlasting life for me
In a perfect world
But I gotta die first,
Please God send me on my way.
Time has a way of taking time
Loneliness is not only felt be fools
Alone I call to ease the pain
Yearning to be held by you, alone so alone, Im lost
Consumed by the pain
The pain, the pain, the pain.
Wont you hold me again
You just laughed, ha ha, bitch
My whole life is work built on the past
But the time has come when all things shall pass
This good thing passed away.

Yoo hoo…stixzz…did you read my comment on your posting about your decision to get a law degree?
I didn’t entirely abandon you, just left a message on one of your posts.:) Don’t know if you got it. Check yer comments, sweetie.:)
So how on earth does a 28 year-old know about old Megadeth and Nuclear Assault?:) I thought they went out with *MY* era, the Pleistocene.:P

Well i guess 28 is getting on a bit
I got into metal when i was 15 although at that time thrash and death metal where past thier peak…… but i just didnt like the trendy shit at that time (pantera machine head etc) and got into the older thrash and death metal. I played in quite a few death metal bands before i got married
as for the feeling sorry for myself, basiclly just found out that an ex that dumped me that i was/is crazily in love with is getting married to someone now. A guy with none of the problems and hangups that ultimately fucked up our relationship. ….

“…but i just didnt like the trendy shit at that time (pantera machine head etc) and got into the older thrash and death metal.”
Don’t really care too much for death metal, but I’m a HUGE fan of speed/thrash metal!! Megadeth, old Metallica, Nuclear Assault, some Slayer (when they’re not being too friggin’ Satanic!), OLD Anthrax ([pre-rap: I’m not opposed to rap per se, but I think Anthrax couldn’t do rap to save their lives), Testament, geez, the memories are coming back!! Have you heard Megadeth’s latest?? “Washington is Next”–holy shit, it sounds like their old stuff and it actually got air play!! MAN, it’s good!:) I also really like Iron Maiden, especially with Bruce Dickenson (now THERE’S a set of pipes on that man!!).

I’m sorry to hear that; it must be painful. Well, which one of us is without sin? We **all** have problems; some mild, some major. A lot of it is how we handle it, and friend, sometimes that just takes *experience in life years.*

I havent heard megadeths latest im afraid… The last album i bought of theirs was youthinasia which was fucking awesome despite the fact it was a slated album….
Speaking of megadeth and metallica, where do you stand on the whole issue? Who are better? I have to say im with megadeth on this one. Ive been told several times that that is an extrememly controversial viewpoint to have on the whole question.
Testament are a band ive been meaning to get into in ages, what 2 albums should i aquire?
Old Anthrax is the biz, the first song i ever learned to play on the bass was ‘among the living’
the rap was awful, i think metal rap fusion is always a bad idea, although i think sucidal tendencies were kinda ok, althoughi dont know if you would call that rap..
have you ever listened to MANOWAR before scarred. I am going crazy for them at the moment, they really make me appricaite the notion that if you are into metal it has to be real metal
i hate all that false metal otherwise known as nu-metal.
Oh yeah, as for slayer, my friends had a big plan for my 18th birthday. they were gonna get me really drunk and then take me to a tatoo shop to get slayer tatooed onto my arse cause i was such a huge slayer fan, sadly for them i went straightedge about a week before my 18th birthday, which was my first step towards becomming a nutcase fundie muslim

I just heard the latest single, “Washington is Next.” I thought it was **damn** good. I’m a bit strapped to get albums right now…hopefully within the next 2 months.
Haven’t heard their *latest* album, but this song came from that…holy cow, I was **impressed**. Don’t know if they’ll **ever** thrash out as hard as they used to–thrash IS sort of a young person’ game, physical ability and all that…but the single was AWFULLY reminiscent of that…

For **thrash?** Indisputably, Megadeth. Unquestionably. However, Mustaine founded Metallica before he got kicked out of the group and went and founded Megadeth…I’ve heard *heavy rumous* that the Metallica albums “Kill ‘Em All” and “Ride the Lightning” was HIS ingenious songwriting. There was a hell of a lot of dispute between Mustaine and the members of Metallica as to who the actual songwriters of these songs. It is a testament to Mustaine’s genius that those albums WILL ALWAYS BE CLASSIC METAL, memorable and powerful.
A weird thing happened, though, to Metallica…once they ran out of Mustaine material, **they were forced*** to create on their own. I noticed that at first they really sucked…but when Hetfield got his act together (or started trying,) the songs improved BIG time–it’s that “finding your voice thing.” “I Disappear” and “Fuel” are some *incredibly* good metal songs. Once they found their authentic style, I would peg Metallica as being very good classical metal rather than thrash, whereas Megadeth is best when they’re thrashy. My opinion…kind of like apples and oranges…:)
“Testament are a band ive been meaning to get into in ages, what 2 albums should i aquire?”
The first two or three.:) Be sure to get the album that has “The Ballad” on it…forgot the title, but it’s one hell of a good album.:)
“Old Anthrax is the biz, the first song i ever learned to play on the bass was ‘among the living’”
Don’t I know it!!! MAN, that was one **hell** of a good song! Doesn’t their singer have a helluva set of pipes on him??
“the rap was awful, i think metal rap fusion is always a bad idea, although i think sucidal tendencies were kinda ok, althoughi dont know if you would call that rap..”
I view Suicidal Tendencies as being BEST when they’re being comic. I never learned the name of that song, but I loved the story of the kid who got institutionalized by his mother because all he wanted was a Pepsi.:) Damn, that was the funniest thing…
“have you ever listened to MANOWAR before scarred. I am going crazy for them at the moment, they really make me appricaite the notion that if you are into metal it has to be real metal”
Not really, but you’ve got me curious.:) Went to a Savatage gig once, I thought they were incredible…wish I could find old Dimondhead…:)
“i hate all that false metal otherwise known as nu-metal.”
Haven’t really listened enough to it, quit listening to metal when it got really misogynist–that’s the thing about thrash, for the most part it wasn’t a BIT sexist..I will confess a dirty habit of liking a lot of alternative and goth stuff, I’ll admit it. I’m a musical heretic, to be sure….*sigh*:)
“Oh yeah, as for slayer, my friends had a big plan for my 18th birthday. they were gonna get me really drunk and then take me to a tatoo shop to get slayer tatooed onto my arse cause i was such a huge slayer fan,”
You’ve just given me an idea for psychological warfare on the White House…splice together lyrics from Donny Osmond, Lawrence Welk, Frank Sinatra, Slayer, Rod Stewart, and Amy Winehouse…splice them together REAL randomly, and set it all to a hip-hop house beat…then aim it at the Oval Office. You think Baby Doc Bush would crack sooner than Noriega did?:P
I mean, wouldn’t “Raining Blood” mix REAL WELL with “My Way?”
))))))))))))))))
I will confess that while it’s sad that you were a wee bit off for awhile, I’m glad that your gluteal muscle didn’t get impressed with a Slayer tatoo. Naw, for you–a dragonfly or a horse!!:) Maybe a Native American representation of a bear or Kokopelli…:)

I noticed you said ‘wee bit’ there scarred, ive noticed this scottish expression has spread the world over the last few years.
I love it.
I agree with you analysis of the megadeth and metallica and the distinctions you make between thrash and classic metal.
Hmm what do you think of micheal schenker, UFO, and the scorpions?
Im getting quite partial to that kinda thing at the moment…
